Hi Herman

I would just like to send my sincere thanks for treating my daughter Anita's injury last Saturday, and for the following treatment the next day Without your help she would surly have been unable to finish the competition. Her leg is a lot better and she went on to do a 3 day training course afterwards. Once again many thanks.

I am writing to say how grateful my family are for the help and advice you gave when my mother's back was so painful after she came out of hospital. After exhausting all other normal medical of specialist and tablets, I asked my mother if I should ring you and she said 'Oh, please do'. You worked out over the telephone what the problem was and gave such clear and precise instructions that not only I but my sister- who does not know you except by my mother's report and mine- could follow them with ease.

My mother rang me next day, very pleased and happy, to say that she felt much better and had been able to walk to the bathroom a task she had been unable to do for some weeks and was free of the pain.
She was also very impressed that you had called to find out how she was. The whole episode was a tribute to your skill and care for your clients. Even though it was on a bank holiday Monday.

Best wishes for your future ventures, and see you when you are next in London.

It was one of my luckiest breaks that I met you when you were therapist to the UK fencing team at the Athens World Championships all those years ago. I am most grateful to you for keeping me on the competitive road long after my sell-by date, and for continuing to treat me after I retired. Even when I was in hospital after the smash the nurses were very impressed by my muscle-tone and the speed with which I healed. I particularly appreciated that you came up to London to loosen my muscles in preparation before I had my collar-bone plated. And you treat me as an intelligent partner in a joint project.

East Region Under 17 and Under 14 Trials Report
East Region Trials

It was glorious day being bright and sunny but very cold. There were plenty of spectators looking forward to seeing the girl’s trial. The OAK's Duke of Edinburgh Gold participants provided refreshments at a small fee and shared the profits they made with the East Region.

The Regional Staff were very grateful for all the expert help from coaches and parents to help the day run smoothly. It was great to see some old faces and some new ones. The East Region Staff hope all trialists enjoyed the day and would like to thank everyone involved, parents, grandparents, trialists and volunteers etc
A special vote of thanks goes to our Physio’s, Ian White, Charlie from Ipswich and Herman Fenton. We kept them busy but not too busy.

Dear Herman,
Many thanks again for fixing Warren's shoulder, and for your continued advice and support helping to keep our two boys working during their heavy training and competition schedules. The stretches and advice you have given us all over the years have made it much easier to keep them fit and well.

He will be in demand so if you want to take advantage of his services, please book by emailing him at herminator@stonehengetherapies.com. You can just turn up on the day, however please note that he may have a queue and booked treatments will have priority. GB Junior International Fencing Manager

England Team Manager

I have known Herman Fenton for approximately 20 years in the context of a Sports Therapist for British Fencing Squad members. During that time Herman has supported elite fencers during their training and at major championships and competitions. As a fencer and coach, I have personally used Herman's expertise to support me and athletes in their physiological needs, general nutritional and health and well being. His knowledge in such a broad spectrum of sport therapies has enabled him to give the athletes exceptional and complementary support toward elite performance.

I fully recommend Herman to this appointment and willing to discuss further if necessary.

3rd Degree TKD instructor

I have known and been treated by Mr Herman Fenton for a number of years and he has kept me physically able to compete to international level in fencing and to continue to teach TaeKwon-Do.

I suffered a blow to the back whilst engaged in martial arts, which rendered me incapable of moving let alone training. Having countless hospital visit and therapy sessions to be told at the age of 30 that I would not be able to continue with either of my sports and that I should give it up for a quiet life, was soul destroying and not an option. I then had the good fortune of meeting Herman and his knowledge and ability to fix your body as a whole, rather than the one spot, put me back into action and kept me there to date.

A Testimonial to Herman Fenton.
I first met Herman Fenton at my first fencing World Championships in Seoul in 1999 whilst representing Australia. Herman has treated me for the seven years I was an international athlete, and subsequently since then in retirement.

What strikes me about Herman is his ability to see the whole athlete - for example diagnosing that a stiff back problem was the result of trouble with my ankle. He understands how athletes think, how they train and what injuries they are susceptible to, and then works his treatments around this. He has extensive knowledge of different therapies and a long history of treating many types of people, from many different sports, giving him invaluable experience.

His work enabled me to maintain my body during training for elite competition and intensive training camps, as well as helping me manage injury and re-balance my body post-retirement. He is, undoubtedly a great therapist - the best I have met - and has an excellent reputation with many athletes from many countries around the world.

Steve Cowan

Past British Fencing Team Manager for Cadet and Junior World Championships

I confirm that as a past British Fencing Team Manager for Cadet and Junior World Championships I have known Herman for many years and specifically worked with him at three world Championships competitions (South Bend USA 2000, Gdansk Poland 2001 and Antalia Turkey2002).

In my experience Herman was extremely hard working, providing treatment for those of the 36 strong team members needing his help during these world championships. On some occasion’s treatment continued well past the time that most of us had long gone to bed. His treatments were very effective and he was never afraid to refer on cases where he had concerns about long term injury. I never had cause to question his judgements on these matters.

I am pleased to confirm my recommendation of Herman and consider him a very effective and professional therapist.

Jayne Crook

Physiotherapist

I have known Herman Fenton for 10 years.

As an athlete I first met Herman at the World Junior Fencing Championships in April 2000, where he worked hard for many hours each day to support our large team. I believe from the team manager that Herman was only funded basic expenses; however, it was clear that passion for his work, the appreciation he received from his athletes and benefits he saw or heard from us on the piste kept him going. I have always found Herman to be a reliable, honest and hard-working. He will always strive to help in any way he can and will not walk away from a job until it has been finished efficiently.

One of Herman’s key assets is his ability to see the benefits of his and other professions’ skills and bring them together to work as a team. Again I first saw him demonstrating these skills at the World Junior Fencing Championships in 2000, where without sharing any common language he helped facilitate a training session with the Korean team. I have also observed him communicating and working along-side several other national sports therapists and physiotherapists at numerous international fencing events. His vast experience has enabled him to treat athletes holistically, thus understanding his role and others in providing the best possible care in the short and long term for patients. Now being a qualified and practicing physiotherapist, I understand the benefits of working as a team and understanding other professional roles to provide the best patient care possible. I hope that physiotherapists and sports massage therapists can continue to improve communication and team-working alongside other professions to complement each other and optimise athletic rehabilitation. I believe Herman has the potential, given the opportunity to catalyse this process.

I belong to the Australian Fencing Squad and have competed in two Commonwealth Fencing Championships, three World Championships and nine World Cups.

I have known Herman Fenton since 2002. He first treated me while I was training in London. Without his assistance and support I doubt I would have been able to maintain the intensity of my training without suffering injury.

Herman also supported me as well as a number of my Australian teammates in the 2002 Junior World Championships in Antalya, Turkey.

Australian fencers do not receive sponsorship or support from the government to travel to international competitions. We pay for all the expenses of travel, accommodation and any extras. Knowing this Herman offered his skills as a Sports Therapist to support the Australian fencers at the World Championships. I as well as my teammates am extremely grateful to Herman for this support.

Natasha Bartlett

British Youth Champion 2003 & International Sidecar Competitor

This is a testimonial to Herman Fenton
I was first introduce to Herman Fenton in the early part of 2009, and he has treated me since then, and hopefully will continue to do so in years to come. When I first met Herman I was suffering from an existing injury from a crash I incurred in 2005. In the accident I fractured my right humorous and after many physiotherapy sessions I was told that my arm would never straighten again. Then after only two sessions with Herman I was able to fully straighten my arm, which has positively affected the way I have been able to compete.

Herman has extensive knowledge of many different types of therapies and also has worked with many different athletes; which shows in his treatments. This allows him to diagnose the problem quickly and then give the most suitable treatment for the individual. I think that Herman’s key quality is that he looks at the whole athlete, not only the injury, which I feel other therapists sometimes don’t. An example was when I was having back pain, Herman found that I had a problem with my feet, which when corrected, stopped my back pain. In doing this I feel that it makes his treatments more affective and personal to the individual.

Over the past year without the help of Herman and his therapies I would have not been able to compete at an international level. As he kept me in the best physical condition both pre, post and during the racing season. This included getting me back fit after and ankle injury, which I was told by the hospital could keep me out for the remainder of the season. But instead after three weeks and treatment from Herman I was able to compete in the European Semi Final in France, which otherwise I would have missed. Herman has also helped me with continued support and advice on training programmes and injury prevention techniques, through the closed season, so I was ready for the re-start of the season.

I would say that Herman is a great therapist and I believe the best that I have met, after racing competitively for 17 years. In this time I haven’t met someone like him, with his extensive knowledge, and reputation, across the board in a wide range of sports and therapies.

Herman has treated me for approximately six years, providing general as well as pre- and post-competition treatments. As a member of the Royal Air Force, participating in a wide variety of sports including fencing, horse riding and martial arts, I need to maintain a good level of fitness (something he understands, having military experience himself).

The most notable skill that Herman possesses is the ability to treat the whole body, not just the surface symptoms – understanding, for example, that pain in my back was caused by tight muscles in my legs. He also looks to understand the causes of such injuries and provide general health advice and exercise to prevent their recurrence. His continued quest for knowledge to expand his already considerable experience means that he is able to treat athletes competing in a wide range of sports, something invaluable to someone in my position. He is always willing to spend as long as is needed, often working late into the evening, to ensure everyone is treated. I have never hesitated to sing Herman’s praises to any individual and as recently elected RAF Fencing Union Ladies Team Captain, I shall continue to do so to the ladies who make up the RAF Team.

I was first introduced to Herman Fenton over 6 years ago fencing competitively for the UK armed forces. Herman has extensive knowledge of many different types of therapies and also has worked with many different athletes; which shows in his treatments. This allows him to diagnose the problem quickly and then give the most suitable treatment for the individual. I think that Herman’s key quality is that he looks at the whole athlete, not only the injury. In doing this I feel that it makes his treatments more effective to the individual. Herman is a great therapist and the best that I have ever met. His extensive knowledge, and reputation, across the board in a wide range of sports and therapies also complements his extremely affable and sunny personality.

George Liston

Current and past member of British, Scottish, Combined Services and Royal Air Force fencing teams.

It is more years than I care to count (but comfortably over thirty), since I was treated by Herman Fenton for the first time. Since then he has been particularly adept at preventing me from injuring myself too often, and has both advised and assisted me, when I have. Over that time, he has delivered consistently efficacious and reliable treatment, bolstered by sage advice. He has performed as effectively whether in his own environment or at competitions ranging from UK military competitions to senior World Championships, earning both gratitude and respect from many sportsmen.

His professionalism, plain speaking and effective treatment have won him plaudits from sportsmen of many nations. I can recommend his advice and treatment wholeheartedly. After all, if he can keep my body functioning well as I continue to compete, I am confident that he can benefit all patients.
