Who or What is The Sports and Remedial Therapies Council?
The SRTC Founding Board Members are:
Mel Cash ISRM, Herman Fenton FHT and Jennifer Wayte FHT.
Myself, Jennifer, and Mel are also PSB (Professional Specific Board) advisors for Sports and Remedial Therapies to the Volentary Regulators and our role again is to advice on standards and anything specific to the modalities.
The board members have a cumulative age and experience of over a century, in sports therapy and standards. We are a very experienced board and others like Jennifer have been involved in the regulatory process from inception, in fact she was involved in writing the document for regulation prior to it launching.
The SRTC is an inclusive organisation and their doors are open to other PA’s (Professional Associations) who meet our very demanding standards and they have therefore to go through a mapping process which is both fair and thorough. The website is specifically for schools, colleges and universities to ensure they are aware of the standards we accept.
Our main objective is to work with the Regulators and the Skills Sector Councils to ensure standards and to be involved with changes in those standards and thereby encourage standards to be raised.
We are the only Sports and Remedial Therapy Council accepted by the Regulator as being the Governing Body for the modality of Sports and Remedial Therapies and we work very closely with the Regulators to ensure that those therapists applying for Regulation are of an acceptable standard.
Another of our roles is to ensure therapists being trained in the modalities we cover are trained to the level we require and therefore are in the process of putting together a Schools Forum and a list of approved schools, colleges and universities who run courses to meet our minimum standards.
Our board give freely of their expertise to ensure all benefits are passed on to the therapist by way of support and information. We are a "not for profit" organisation and costs are kept to a minimum
