Education & Support

To help with the complexity of where the SRTC fit in within education and standards the under mentioned should help.

The Regulators - is recognised by the Government and backed by the Department of Health. The Regulators role is to protect the Public and therefore ensure standards.

The Lead Body or (Governing Body) set the standards or the Core Curriculum of the therapy alongside the Skills Sector Councils who with our input set the National Occupational Standards which are embedded into the Core Curriculum of the modality. Their (our) responsibility is therefore is to protect the therapy standards.

The Professional Associations – PA’s. (We have four member organisations at this time - which gives us the majority of sports therapists within our remit and growing). The PA’s responsibility is to the therapist, guarding their interest and ensuring Continued Professional Development, that all are insured to practice and carry out the standards of the Lead Body by only allowing membership to those that match the lead body standards. Certain Professional Associations are allowed to fast track their members to the Regulator as their standards have been verified. The SRTC can confirm that all their PA membership also has this approval. Indeed at this present time we are the only organisations allowed to fast track for sports and remedial therapy. All other organisations within Sports and Remedial Therapy, who apply for this system, will have to be approved by the SRTC.
